*November is Minnesota Foodshare Month – The Preston Food Shelf continues to face shortages due to an increase in need. Donations of non-perishable food and personal care items can be placed in the grocery cart or basket in the Narthex through November 30th. Monetary donations can be placed in the offering plate or church office (please indicate Food Shelf).

*The Craft and Bake Sale set for Dec. 6 is just days away! Help spread the word by telling family, friends, and neighbors!. Find the event on Facebook and share and like it!  Please refer to the November Ambassador and the upcoming December Ambassador for updates and also pick up an information sheet in the narthex to see baked good prices, donation drop-off times, and more. Call or text Gail Bunge at 507-259-1444 if you are interested in volunteering. There may be a few spots yet open. Thanks!

*Craft and Bake Sake Raffle ticket sale – We will continue to sell these tickets after each church service until the day of the sale. The drawing will be held on the day of the sale, Dec. 6th at 2pm. For those who sold raffle tickets, please return all tickets (sold and unsold) to Janet Erdman on or before November 30th

*2025 Advent Series and Devotions – Our theme this year is “The Power of YES,” and our lessons offer voices from different stories and different characters who have one thing in common; each of these people said YES to God. Refer to your December Ambassador on a complete worship schedule for December. There are also printed Advent devotionals available in the narthex or by PDF – let Amanda know if you want one emailed to you.

*CHANGE OF DATE –Fall Book Read-Muus vs Muus; Discussion has been pushed back to Thursday, Jan. 8th, 6:30-7:30 pm at the home of Nancy Hengeveld’s.

*Sunday School Christmas Program -The Sunday School Christmas Program will be Sunday, December 14, 2025, during the regular 9 AM worship service. We will be practicing the next couple of weeks, and will be extending our Sunday School time to allow for additional practice.

·        Sunday, November 30 – No Sunday School (Thanksgiving Weekend)

·        Sunday, December 7 – Program Practice 10-11:15 AM

*Help Wanted – The church council is looking for additional individuals to manage the Sunday morning opening/closing responsibilities from approximately 8:15am-11:15am. Looking for others to help once or twice every 6 weeks or so. This position will be paid $35 each Sunday to unlock the church, turn on the audio and video systems, assist in the computer management for display and online livestreaming, and then shut down computer, TV’s and sound equipment at the end of each service and lock up the building. We require that individuals be at least 14 years old. We welcome all interested people to contact the church office with their name and phone number for further details. Thank you!

*Good Earth Village Lunch & Learn – “Lunch & Carols: Christmas Sing-Along”
When: Tuesday, December 16th; 11am check-in; Speaker: Dylon Starr. Sign up in the narthex or pre-register on your own.

*Pizza Party & Christmas Scavenger Hunt for grades 6-12 – Friday, Dec 19, 6-7:30 pm (approx.) – Say What? There’s a Friday night and no school activities!?!  We’ve got fun for you! Youth will arrive at church for a pizza dinner between 6 and 6:30 pm, then be sent out with friends on a Christmas Lights Scavenger Hunt. Santa? Blue Lights? A Star? A wreath? When you find one, take a group picture that includes the item and check it off your list! Come back to church for prizes and hot cocoa.  Adult volunteer drivers are needed to transport the kids. Please let Pastor Kris or Melissa Severson know if you are able. This event requires a permissions slip because of the driving. Sign up online at www.christlutheranpreston.org and we will email or text a permission slip. Friends are welcome!

*Advent Candle Lighters needed – The season of Advent is the four-week time of preparation for the coming of Jesus. This year Advent begins on Sunday, November 30th and continues until December 21st. We observe this holy season by lighting candles each of the four Sundays in Advent. If your family/household wishes to participate in the weekly Advent Candle Lighting, please SIGN UP in the narthex or contact Amanda in the office. Dates left are Nov. 30th and Dec. 14th

The Gnome Cafe and kids’ crafting sign-up sheets are also posted at the raffle sales table. New this year is the addition of a silent auction table. Items will only be available to bid on during the time of the sale along with a set rate option to purchase an item immediately.  The auction items include a lutefisk dinner for 6 provided by Joel & Barb Mielke, a milk can pig porch pot and a wooden bench made by Joel Mielke.

The raffle tickets are $5.00 each.  They will be sold after each Sunday service in the narthex, and winners will be drawn on 12/6/25 at 2pm.

*Attention Lefse Lovers!  In addition to the sale of lefse at our Craft and Bake Sale on December 6, 2025, there will be a limited amount of lefse for sale at the raffle ticket table in the narthex again today on November 23, 2025.  Get your lefse for your Thanksgiving dinner!

*Sunday School volunteers – We are in need of volunteers to help be an extra set of hands during our classes or to fill in as substitute teachers, and we welcome anyone who would like to help! *Annual Women’s Fall Benevolence Drive – For years, the generosity of the Women of Christ Lutheran has supported our community and those far beyond through the Women’s Fall Benevolence Drive. *NEEDED: Caring Adults and Youth to Help with Sunday School
When: Sundays from 10:00-11:00 am
Why: 55 kids are registered!  A large Sunday School program calls for more helpers each Sunday.
What is expected: This year we need every child’s household to support Sunday School by assisting in a classroom at least one hour each semester, and ideally each month. Youth and other adults are also encouraged to volunteer.
How: Please take a look at the sign-up schedule and sign up on a Sunday that works for you. Thank you!

*Fifth Annual Craft and Bake Sale – Sat., Dec. 6, 2025. Please refer to the November Ambassador for updates and also pick up an information sheet in the narthex to see baked good prices, donation drop off times, and more. The volunteer sign up sheet is now in the narthex and will be at the raffle sales table each Sunday after church. Other prizes include handmade fused glass art, fishing rod made by Hoogie Hanson, a decorated wooden sleigh, and a Blackstone omnivore-on-the-go grill.

*Women’s Fellowship – The next Women’s Fellowship meeting will take place at the church on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at 6:30 p.m.  Join us as we discuss thriving in relationships.

*Fall Book Read-Muus vs Muus; Discussion will be on Monday, Dec 1, 6:30-7:30 pm at the home of Nancy Hengeveld’s. Join us as we wonder and talk about this book. We will also discuss whether to organize a book club and brainstorm future books to read.  There’s always room for one more!   –— Muus vs Muus, authored by Bodil Stenseth, and translated into English by Kari Lie Dorer, et al, is available at local libraries, bookstores, and in a Kindle e-book edition.

*Youth mission outing to Feed My Starving Children, Eagan, Mn – Saturday, November 22, 9:30 am to 5:30 pm – FMSC is an organization that provides nutritious meals to children in need, with a focus on tackling hunger and malnutrition in developing countries. We will learn about the organization and those it serves, pack meals, and find out who will receive our meals. We plan to carpool and will need adult drivers.
