Pastor
I am humbled and excited to introduce myself, Kris Hertsgaard Kincaid and to thank you for calling me to serve as your pastor. As you get to know me, you will experience a joyful, confident, and focused leader. I love creating spaces to help people discover their gifts and contribute to God’s mission for the sake of the world. Your excitement for how God is calling you, and your mission, “Love God, Love People, and Serve Jesus,” are inspiring.
People are asking me how I chose to enter ministry at this time of life. Over the last several years I have discerned God’s hopes for me, and each of us, are bigger than we can imagine. I first considered seminary in high school. Eight years ago, I followed a lifelong dream and accepted a call in Children, Youth, and Family Ministry at First English Lutheran Church in Cannon Falls MN. The joys of this role encouraged me to pursue ordained ministry. I graduated from Luther Seminary in St. Paul MN last May, completed my pastoral internship at First Lutheran Church in Kenyon MN in August, and officially started at Christ Lutheran Church on Monday September 11. Our family has long enjoyed recreational opportunities in this area and looks forward to being part of this congregation and broader community.
Prior to serving in ministry, I directed Community Education for Kenyon-Wanamingo Schools and worked in Career Development for St. Olaf College, Northfield MN, and Utah State University, Logan UT.
My husband, Rich, teaches high school life science for Kenyon-Wanamingo Schools. We have two daughters. Kelsey lives in Moorhead, MN and is a Pediatric Dietitian for Sanford Hospital in West Fargo, ND. Kyla lives in Kenyon and is a nurse in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit at Mayo Clinic in Rochester MN.
Isaiah 43:19 reminds us God is continuously creating, “Look! I’m doing a new thing; now it sprouts up; don’t you recognize it? I’m making a way in the desert, paths in the wilderness.” We, too, are continuously doing new things! I invite you to gather at Christ Lutheran as we listen to how God is calling us at this time and place and share faith and life together. Blessings on your journey!
