*Please let the office or a member of the Church Council know if one of your loved ones is sick or has passed or if you or someone you know is going to be in the hospital so that we may acknowledge them in our prayer list or pay them a visit.
*Summer Book Read – “The Book of Longings.” Discussion will be Thursday August 21, 6:30 pm at Nancy Hengeveld’s – 329 Parkside Dr SE, Preston. “The Book of Longings” by Sue Monk Kidd is a novel which explores the imagined life of Ana, the wife of Jesus, and her journey to find her voice in a patriarchal society. Come for conversation. Come to wonder. Come whether you read the book or glanced at a summary.
*Blessing of the Animals Outdoor Worship, Sunday, August 31st, 9am – All finned, furry and feathered creatures who will play nice with others are welcome. Stuffed animals and pictures are also welcome. Please bring a lawn chair or a blanket and come prepared for a few barks, wonderful songs, and a message inviting us to consider how everything we have, need, eat, and wear ties back to the natural world.
*REGISTRATION for Sunday School and Confirmation! Hey parents! The new school year is just around the corner, and that means it’s time to register your kids for Sunday School and Confirmation. Sunday School will begin on Sunday, September 14th with Rally Sunday and Confirmation will start on Wednesday, September 18th with Orientation for parents and youth. Visit our website to register – www.christlutheranpreston.org.
*Sunday School Teachers and Confirmation Leaders Needed – Might you spend an hour or two a month, or week, helping God form faith in our next generation? We are seeking adult leaders for the 2025-26 program year. Confirmation (Grades 7-9) meets Wednesday evenings from 6:00-7:30 pm and Sunday School (Ages 3 – Grade 6) meets Sunday mornings following worship from 10-10:45 a.m. We have a vibrant team of Sunday School and Confirmation Leaders and need a few additional adults to provide guidance and support for these programs. Specifically, an adult guide is needed for our 7th grade small group and additional teachers and assistants are needed for Sunday School. Lessons and materials are prepared for you. We also welcome a pianist or guitarist to help lead music. Contact Pastor Kris to say, “Yes, I’m in”, or with any questions.
*New Member Sunday – On September 7th, we will be welcoming new members in worship. If you or someone you know is interested in officially joining our congregation, please let the office know by Tuesday, September 2nd. You may reach Amanda at 507-765-2161 or by email, office@christlutheranpreston.org. We will also have a New Member Orientation following worship with new members and their sponsors. Pick up coffee and treats in the Narthex and meet downstairs in the Fellowship Hall. On October 5th, congregation members will have an opportunity to meet and greet during a brunch following worship.
Summer Sermon Series: GROUNDED
We invite you to root down, look up, and learn what it might mean for you and our community of faith to be grounded in creation. There will be take-home sensory activities for each topic –
August 24: Air – Make a pinwheel! Put it outside or take it for a spin yourself.
August 31: Flora and Fauna – Appreciate your pets! It’s outdoor worship and Blessing of the Animals. Bring your furry or feathered pet for a special blessing.
