Summer VBS and Pizza Garden – Sunday, June 9th; Tuesday, June 11th and Thursday, June 13th; Sunday, July 14th; Sunday, August 18th. Come when you can – you don’t have to attend every night. See specifics below.
WHAT: Gather with us and explore how we grow in faith. We will plant and tend a pizza garden over the summer. In August, we will make pizza, using our freshly grown herbs and produce. This is part of our summer VBS ministry. Have fun with Bible stories, games, songs, friends, and more! Sunday meeting dates are for all ages, Tuesdays and Thursdays are for kids. Congregation members will be asked to help provide meals and assist with VBS. Register online on our website, children’s page, www.christlutheranpreston.org or call the office for a registration link at 507-765-2161. See below for more details!
Volunteers needed – Vacation Bible School is in need of volunteers to help prep and clean up meals, lead outdoor games, and more! We are also in need of people to help sign up for certain food items for our meals. A sign up was passed around in church on May 12, and it is in the narthex. VBS is free and open to all and offered as intergenerational mini-worship and activities on June 9, July 14, and August 18. VBS is offered for kids only (pre-k to 6th grade) on June 11 and 13. Please reach out to Alison Leathers at 507-251-8049 or Pastor Kris with any questions. Thank you!
Greeters for Sunday Morning – We have added Greeters back to our services again. If you are interested in being on the greeter list please let Amanda know. or take a minute to fill out this really short questionnaire https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1_Z_EApIQXhher8vKfdSP-wUKdlSdNDidlVUdw3FOptE/edit
Senior Recognition Sunday – Graduating high school seniors will be celebrated in worship on Sunday, May 19. Christ Crafters will share a personalized blanket with each of them, parents and seniors will receive a blessing, and everyone is invited to enjoy cake and coffee following worship. Come and share a prayer as they transition into new adventures.
Women’s Fellowship – The next meeting of the Women of Christ Lutheran Fellowship group is Wednesday, May 22 at 6:30 PM in the conference room. We will be wrapping up our study of Anthony de Mello’s “Awareness” book. You are welcome to join us and be part of the conversation. We have two other topics to discuss:
1) We will also be selecting a topic for our June meeting.
2) Approve a request from Alison Leathers and Pastor Kris to help fund the proposed VBS programs this summer.
We hope to see you there!
Save the Date – Minnesota Adult and Teen Challenge Choir to Lead Worship on June 2nd – 9 am.
The MN Adult and Teen Challenge choir, which is made up of participants in Minnesota Adult and Teen Challenge’s chemical dependency treatment and recovery programs, will perform a mix of gospel, Christian contemporary and Americana-themed songs as well as share testimonies of the faith and life in worship. Following worship, there will be a potluck – Council is providing pulled pork sandwiches and everyone else is asked to bring a dish to pass!
Help Wanted – The church is looking for individual/s that would be interested in helping with minor maintenance and cleaning tasks around the property. This may include, but are not limited to, tasks such as changing light bulbs, repairing broken items as needed, and washing/waxing floors. This would be a paid position. Hours would be variable and flexible. We are also looking for an individual/s who could assist with setting up the Heritage Room prior to funerals. If interested, please speak with Amanda in the office or a church council member.
