*Please let the office or a member of the Church Council know if one of your loved ones is sick or has passed or if you or someone you know is going to be in the hospital so that we may acknowledge them in our prayer list or pay them a visit.

*NEEDED: Caring Adults and Youth to Help with Sunday School
When: Sundays from 10:00-11:00 am
Why: 55 kids are registered!  A large Sunday School program calls for more helpers each Sunday.
What is expected: This year we need every child’s household to support Sunday School by assisting in a classroom at least one hour each semester, and ideally each month. Youth and other adults are also encouraged to volunteer.
How: Please take a look at the sign-up schedule and sign up on a Sunday that works for you. Thank you!

*Fifth Annual Craft and Bake Sale – Sat., Dec. 6, 2025. Please refer to the November Ambassador for updates and also pick up an information sheet in the narthex to see baked good prices, donation drop off times, and more. The volunteer sign up sheet is now in the narthex and will be at the raffle sales table each Sunday after church. The Gnome Cafe and kids’ crafting sign up sheets are posted by the Sunday School supply room. New this year is the addition of a silent auction table. Items will only be available to bid on during the time of the sale along with a set rate option to purchase an item immediately.  The auction items include a lutefisk dinner for 6 provided by Joel & Barb Mielke, a milk can pig porch pot and a wooden bench made by Joel Mielke.
The raffle ticket sales started on 10/26/25, and they are $5.00 each.  They will be sold after each Sunday service in the narthex, and winners will be drawn on 12/6/25 at 2pm.  Mary Zimmerman has again donated a beautiful quilt for the main prize. Other prizes include handmade fused glass art, fishing rod made by Hoogie Hanson, a decorated wooden sleigh, and a Blackstone omnivore-on-the-go grill.

*Attention Lefse Lovers!  In addition to the sale of lefse at our Craft and Bake Sale on December 6, 2025, there will be a limited amount of lefse for sale at the raffle ticket table in the narthex on November 16, 2025, and November 23, 2025.  Get your lefse for your Thanksgiving dinner!

*Reserve Usher List – If you would be willing to be put on the Reserve (Substitute) Usher List, please let Amanda know.

*Women’s Fellowship – The next Women’s Fellowship meeting will take place at the church on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at 6:30 p.m.  Join us as we discuss thriving in relationships.

*Fall Book Read-Muus vs Muus; Discussion will be on Monday, Dec 1, 6:30-7:30 pm at the home of Nancy Hengeveld’s. Join us as we wonder and talk about this book. We will also discuss whether to organize a book club and brainstorm future books to read.  There’s always room for one more!   –— Muus vs Muus, authored by Bodil Stenseth, and translated into English by Kari Lie Dorer, et al, is available at local libraries, bookstores, and in a Kindle e-book edition.

*November is Minnesota Foodshare Month – The Preston Food Shelf continues to face shortages due to an increase in need. Donations of non-perishable food and personal care items can be placed in the grocery cart or basket in the Narthex through November 30th. Monetary donations can be placed in the offering plate or church office (please indicate Food Shelf).

*New Baby? We want to know! Are you expecting a child through birth or adoption? Do you have a new infant at home? In these sacred times of welcoming a baby, Christ Lutheran Church is here for you. We have resources to support the whole family and look forward to connecting with you! Contact our office for more information. *Youth mission outing to Feed My Starving Children, Eagan, Mn – Saturday, November 22, 9:30 am to 5:30 pm – FMSC is an organization that provides nutritious meals to children in need, with a focus on tackling hunger and malnutrition in developing countries. We will learn about the organization and those it serves, pack meals, and find out who will receive our meals. We plan to carpool and will need adult drivers. Meet at the church parking lot at 9:30 a.m. After FMSC, we will stop at MOA. Only 50 spots are open, first come, first served. Register here: http://www.fmsc.org/join-group?joincode=B21ZDG
*Ages 5 through grade 6 must be accompanied by an adult)

*Fall Book Read-Muus vs Muus; Discussion on Monday, Dec 1, 6:30-7:30 pm at the home of Nancy Hengeveld’s. Pastor Bernt Muus is credited as a founder of St. Olaf College in 1874; he also served as its first president.  He was called to Holden Lutheran Church in rural Kenyon MN in 1859 and played a significant role in the broader Minnesota immigrant community and church. He was not without controversy, both personally and professionally. His wife Oline sought a divorce, and their trial presents cultural and legal challenges faced by a Norwegian
immigrant couple in 19th-century Minnesota. How does this story provide insight into the lives of Norwegian American immigrants, whose experiences are woven into many of our family histories?  How might their experiences pertain to current immigration issues?  Join us for as we wonder and talk about this book. We will also discuss whether to organize a book club and brainstorm future books to read.  There’s always room for one more!
— Muus vs Muus, authored by Bodil Stenseth, and translated into English by Kari Lie Dorer, et al, is available at local libraries, bookstores, and in a Kindle e-book edition.

*Annual Women’s Fall Benevolence Drive – For years, the generosity of the Women of Christ Lutheran has supported our community and those far beyond through the Women’s Fall Benevolence Drive. A letter will be sent to all women of the congregation with more information on how you can participate.  We are deeply grateful for your ongoing generosity and hope you will join us again in supporting these important causes. If you’d like to contribute, donations can be mailed to:
Joyce Hellickson — 409 Winona St. NW — Preston MN 55965
Additionally, you can drop off or mail your donation at the church office or place it in the offering plate during Sunday morning worship. Please make checks payable to Women of Christ Lutheran. We kindly ask that your donation be received by Sunday, November 30, 2025.

*Advent Candle Lighters needed – The season of Advent is the four-week time of preparation for the coming of Jesus. This year Advent begins on Sunday, November 30th and continues until December 21st. We observe this holy season by lighting candles each of the four Sundays in Advent. If your family/household wishes to participate in the weekly Advent Candle Lighting, please contact Amanda in the church office, 507-765-2161. Pastor Kris will prepare a short reading to accompany the candle lighting. Dates needed are Nov. 30. Dec. 7, Dec. 14, Dec. 21 and also Dec 24 during the 4:30 pm worship service. Thank you!

*15 years of Generosity – For 15 years, Thrivent members have used the Thrivent Choice® program to support the causes and nonprofits they care about most. Together, you’ve helped distribute more than $620 million to organizations making a difference in communities across the country. And that is worth celebrating! This October and November, we invite you to join the celebration. Direct Choice Dollars® to an enrolled organization and they could be one of 15 randomly selected to receive a $15,000 grant from Thrivent. If you’ve already directed Choice Dollars during this promotion — thank you. Your organization(s) is entered. (Maximum one entry per organization). Thank you for helping us make an impact — today and for the next 15 years to come. Note: Winners will be notified by the end of December — and you can check back right here to see which organizations receive the grants.

*Good Earth Village Lunch & Learn – Tuesday, November 18th; 11am check-in. “Presence and Peace in the season of Advent through the lens of Grief Yoga”- Pastor Jillene Fritch-Gallatin. In this session we learn about the principles of Grief Yoga, no matter physical ability or limitations. Grief Yoga can support us in being present mentally, physically and emotionally, especially during the meaningful season of Advent. Throughout our time together we’ll learn what Grief Yoga is, see a demonstration of it for different bodies, and have an opportunity to try it! Caring for ourselves allows us to nurture and care for others around us, especially when our schedule feels full.  Sign up in the narthex or pre-register on your own. If you would like to carpool, meet at the church at 10:30 a.m.
