*Preaching Series: Campaign for Kindness. From October 6-November 10 I will be drawing insight for my sermons from a preaching series focusing on kindness, curated by the Arkansas-Oklahoma Synod of the ELCA in late spring 2024. The series does not follow the lectionary. Readings for Nov 3  are “Kindness in the Aftermath”

  • Genesis 33:1-12 | ‘Let us journey on our way, and I will go alongside you.’
  • Psalm 103:8-14 | How does God deal with our brokenness?
  • Colossians 3:12-17 | Bear with each other and forgive one another
  • Luke 15:11-32 | Parable of the Prodigal Son

*Painted Pumpkin Contest – Nov, 3rd    7-12th graders painted pumpkins on Wednesday, October 30th and they will be on display in the Narthex for Sunday’s worship on November 3rd. Bring some coins, cash, or checks with you to vote for your favorite pumpkin. The proceeds will be donated to Hurricanes Helene and Milton through the Lutheran Disaster Response. Your generosity makes a difference in God’s world.

*All Saints Sunday – Nov 3 – On All Saints Sunday, November 3, we create a space in worship that embraces the saints who have passed as well as those who live among us. For Lutherans, All Saints rests in the conviction that in Christ every saint is a sinner and every sinner a saint, simul justus et peccator. It is God’s grace, apart from our works, that makes us saints.  Candles will be lit for newly baptized and departed saints, and candles will be available for you to light for saints you hold in your heart. May we rest in God’s mercy.

*The Fourth Annual Craft and Bake Sale is on Sat., Dec. 7, 2024. The volunteer sign up sheet is now in the narthex and will be at the raffle sales table each Sunday after church. The Gnome Café sign up sheet will be posted by the Sunday School supply room. Please refer to the November Ambassador for updates and also get an information sheet in the narthex to see baked good prices, donation drop off times, and more. Thank you for your help!

*Craft and Bake Sale Raffle Ticket Sale – The raffle ticket sales for the annual Craft and Bake Sale began Sunday, Oct. 27.   Raffle tickets are $5.00 each. We will continue to sell these tickets after each church service until the day of the sale. Mary Zimmerman has again donated a beautiful quilt for the main prize. Other prizes include a Solo stove and John Deere bean bag toss game donated by Pam Mensink, mosaic glass wall art donated by Barb Mielke, a Farm Charm gift basket donated by Amanda Heibel, and a crystal platter with Christmas baking made by Diane Johnson and Gail Bunge.  The drawing will be held on the day of the sale, December 7, at 2:00 p.m.

*K & 1st grade Milestone Bibles – Following through on the promises made in baptism to our children, Christ Lutheran Church gifts a Bible to K & 1st graders. This year these children will receive Bibles in worship on November 10.  Following worship, parents or another caring adult are invited to a Bible Basics class with Pastor Kris. Please contact the church office or revkris.christlutheranpreston@gmail.com, if you are not able to attend.

*Gift Bags Needed – This holiday season we are again sharing some holiday joy with our elderly members by remembering them with a gift.  We are in need of medium sized Christmas gift bags.  If you have a few extra, we could use them.  Please leave them in the church office or contact Dawn Hellickson or Carol Solberg.  Thank you!

*Good Earth Village Lunch & Learn-
When: Tuesday, November 19
Speaker: Nate Johnson
Topic: “Making Your Own Pixie Dust”
Hear from our very own Program Director Nate Johnson and his experiences working in the Disney parks! Nate will present some fun and informative stories from his six years of Disney parks experiences and how he is applying what he learned to Good Earth Village today. Since 1995, Disney has been known for world-class hospitality and has opened seven theme parks across the world. Sign-up out in the narthex by Thursday, Nov. 14 if you would like to attend.
