CRAFT & BAKE SALE
Saturday, Dec 2, 2023
9 am – 2 pm
Fellowship Hall (basement)

The excitement has been building for our annual Craft & Bake Sale, as we are now only a few days away.  We hope everyone has plans to visit and purchase items that have been crafted or baked by members of CLC.  You will find many unique items for the people on your Christmas list.  The Gnome Café will also be serving up hot beverages and treats while you shop.  Fresh samples of rommegrot (thank you Rebecca Schwingle & Darla Ebner!) will be served as well.  And if that isn’t enough to tease you into coming, we can’t forget mentioning lefse and flatbread will also be available at the sale. Cheryl Schumacher will be offering a “Make & Take” craft once again for children 5+ years old.  The cost is $15 per child and no pre-registration is needed.  This is our only fundraiser to support the church and our missions.  Last year we were able to support CLC with $9500 from this special event.  We look forward to another successful event in 2023.

A three-prize raffle was added this year, with a goal of selling 750 tickets. Thanks for your purchases and to the ticket sellers for their work, as we are off to a great start.  Raffle tickets will be available to purchase the day of the sale, so if you haven’t already bought one or more(!), there is still time at only $5 each. You could have a chance to win a beautiful quilt, locally themed gift basket, or a porch pot.

Thank you to the many volunteers who have signed up to assist with the event.  A few openings are still available, so please consider signing up.  Help is needed for set up the day before the sale, the day of the sale, and clean-up the day after.  It takes a village to do this work, and every little bit helps!

Items for the sale can be dropped off beginning Sunday, November 26 up until 8:30 the morning of the sale at the basement level entrance.  A committee member will also be available for drop-offs until 6:30 pm on Friday, Dec. 1 for those with busy work and family schedules.  Please have items pre-priced in even dollars following the recommended pricing table below.  Items should be left on the counter in the kitchen or in the refrigerator if needed.  Committee members will check church each day to secure the donations.

Item Price Item Price
Yeast Bread $6.00 Cinnamon Rolls (6 ct) $6.00
Quick Bread $4.00-$6.00 Tea Rings $12.00
Lefse (3 rounds) $6.00 Sandbakkels (6 ct) $4.00
Krumkake (strull) (6 ct) $4.00 Rosettes (6 ct) $4.00
Cookies (12 ct) $4.00 – $6.00 Jams/Jellies $6.00
Pie $15.00 Flatbread (~20 ct) $3.00 – $4.00

We will continue selling any unsold items after church on Sunday, December 3.
So if you were not able to come on Saturday, there is another opportunity for you to shop.
Sunday, December 10 is the last day for picking up items that were donated and not sold.

The planning committee thanks you for your support of this once-a-year event.

HAPPY SHOPPING!!

*Advent Candlelighters Needed – The season of Advent is the four-week time of preparation for the coming of Jesus. It begins on the Sunday nearest to November 30. This year Advent begins on Sunday, December 3and continues until Christmas Eve on December 24. We observe this holy season by lighting candles each of the four Sundays in Advent. Three of the candles are purple – to remind us to pray and serve others lovingly as we help prepare the way for Jesus. The candle for the third Sunday of Advent is pink and is a symbol of our joy as the birth of Jesus draws near. We’ve also added one white candle – we call this one the Christ Candle – to be lit on Christmas Eve along with the other four candles to remind us that Jesus is the light of the world, and that God loves us very much. If your family/household wishes to participate in the weekly Advent Candle Lighting, please contact Amanda in the church office, 507-765-2161. *Craft and Bake Sale Updates – Sat., Dec. 2, 2023, from 9am-2:00pm
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!!  The volunteer sign-up sheet to assist with the Craft & Bake Sale is now posted in the narthex.  We welcome one and all, including the men of our congregation, to help with the various tasks (I.e. setting up displays, cashier, greeter, stocker, helper to carry out purchases to a customers’ car, etc.). The sign-up sheet lists the assorted helper roles for varied shifts for Fri. Dec. 1; Event Day on Sat. Dec. 2 and (post event sales) on Sun. Dec. 3.  Please review the sign-up sheet and consider signing up to help support our missions!

Event fliers are currently being posted around the community.   You can also spread the word by telling family, friends & neighbors!   Family fun is planned for our event on Dec. 2.   Cheryl Schumacher will be offering a “Make & Take” craft for your child as you shop or enjoy a coffee/treat at the Gnome Cafe.  Children should be 5+ years old to participate.  The cost is $ 15 per child.  No reservations are needed as the project will continue until supplies last.  Your child/grandchild will build a special memory making a fun edible polar igloo to take home with them!

The Gnome Cafe will be serving fresh coffee, hot chocolate & apple cider along with delicious baked treats!  Rebecca Schwingle & Darla Ebner will also be making rommegrot & free samples will be served to shoppers when they visit the Gnome Cafe.  A volunteer sign-up sheet for families to help provide baked goods & to help serve in the Cafe has been posted outside the Sunday School classrooms.  We welcome your help & look forward to seeing you there!  This is a fun opportunity for our families, especially those with Sunday School age children, to jointly be a part of our event.

New this year is the addition of a three-prize raffle.  Raffle tickets are $5.00 each as we continue to sell them after each church service through Nov. 26.  Our goal is to sell all 750 tickets and we have distributed over 600 so far.  Thank you for supporting this fundraiser in purchasing tickets and helping to sell the tickets.

Thank you for the donations that have come in for this event to date as we continue to receive some monies.  The congregation can yet consider donating money to the Craft & Bake Sale, which is being used to purchase supplies, ingredients & items for gift baskets.  Please keep crafting and planning for how you may contribute items and especially baked goods.  The recommended pricing of baked goods and food items is as follows:
